Product Description

The Wraith II chassis from Marked Motorsports is now available!

There are many things to consider when buying a crawler or chassis. Below is a detailed explanation about ours for your consideration.  Please take some time to read through this information and decide for yourself if the Wraith II is right for you.  All the information below may seem overwhelming, but the information is what you should, and need to know before purchasing a chassis.

Starting first with the design. The main focus of this chassis was to have a lightweight, yet powerful buggy that could not only win rock crawling competitions, but be fun and comfortable on any trail. It had to be roomy for tall adults, SAFE, look good, and be built fairly inexpensively.

What you see is our final product. A strong, well designed chassis that is simple to work on. The Wraith II is a proven Werock championship winner, and with some add-on's, it can be taken camping for days at a time.

Besides chassis design, we also wanted to create a new business model so the average customer could purchase our chassis and finish it at home. For this to work, every chassis had to be identical, so the chassis were designed in Solidworks and then each chassis was CNC bent and laser notched to perfection. To make sure every chassis remained identical we also weld them in-house on our CNC jig table. This ensured every body panel and tab is an exact match for every chassis made.

Second, We understand the average customer is doing their fabrication after business hours and on the weekend when we are closed. For this reasons we are attempting to simplify the build process by doing the following:

A. Photos are worth a thousand words!
The website now has the new "Wraith II Builders photo gallery". Hundreds of build photos are categorized so you can look for build ideas and answers when we are closed. These should simplify your build and give you ideas for a clean install. Wondering where or how to mount the power steering reservoir? Look in the plumbing and wiring galleries.

If your going to make your own mounts and brackets, thats fine too. These photos are there to show you how we did it. Every month photos will be added as our builds and customers builds continue progress. http://markedmotorsports.com/the-wraith-2-build-galleries-c-32_42.html

B. Because every chassis is the same
All of our brackets are CNC laser and plasma cut. Any and all brackets, tabs and parts used on these chassis are available for purchase so anyone can install them without guessing if they will fit. From battery mounts, tabs, cup holders, to bolts,  we know what fits and works because each chassis is the same.

Below is a more in depth description of the Wraith II design, whats included, and what add ons are available.

CHASSIS DETAILS:

  1. The Wraith II is a very small chassis, yet extremely comfortable! The chassis welded together comes in at only 321 lbs!  This is a picture next to some well known rigs. The polaris general with no lift, and a yamaha golf cart. LOL

Pictures below with a 6'3" tall driver and 6'2" passenger inside. Lots of room.

  2. All the heavier items in our chassis were designed to be mounted as low as possible to keep the center of gravity very low. Even the lower seat tubes are modified to sink around the skidplate and the Atlas transfer case.
  3. Our chassis includes a total of 97 tubes and a grand total of 149 pieces! We have included nearly every tube in the Wraith II chassis as shown below. This chassis is 96% complete at no additional cost to our customers. The only tubes missing are the 5 lower skid plate tubes under the engine, and the interior center console tubes. We left these out because of different engine combinations that can be used.
  4. We moved the front of the engine 4" to the passenger side to give the car better balance and counter the weight of the driver and other accessories mounted around him/her. This makes for a very stable rig in any direction, while greatly increasing driver comfort.
  5. The Wraith II chassis is completely MIG welded together at NO additional charge! Keep in mind, for replacement or building reasons, if you ever need a replacement tube, interior panel, link tab, A pillar, or radiator bracket. Its in stock or can be made in just a couple of days. We can simply cut it and send it out.

  6. The wraith 2 chassis is made with only the best DOM steel tubing available. The lower cradle section is made from 1.75"x.120 with 1.75x.250 rock sliders for strength. The upper chassis structure is a mix of 1.5" and 1.25" .120 and .095 tubing.  Our chassis also includes multiple tubing disconnects so servicing can be done easily.
  7. The chassis was designed to eliminate catch cans and overflow bottles. The weight of these items adds up, and they clutter a clean build. There are six 1/8" NPT holes tapped into the lower chassis cradle for coolant overflow, axle vents, atlas t-case catch can, and a transmission catch can. Clean and simple.
  8. We have also included a simple power steering cooler with drain built into the front frame section. It adds another quart + to the capacity of the system and uses two -8 AN fittings.
  9. If you look closely at the chassis side panels. The door bar/panel tubes are recessed in on the bottom behind the rock sliders, and then taper out to the chassis width at the top. This keeps the tubes and panels away from the rocks and out of harms way.
  10. Our chassis also includes an adjustable steering column mount. It's adjustable up and down, as well as in and out.  This is an add on with most chassis kits, but included with ours.

  11. Suspension geometry is very important in a crawler. For that reason we are using a design from Jesse Haines Fabrication. The upper rear link mounts are built into the chassis and we also offer an entire chassis link mount kit as an add-on too.
  12. The chassis includes two different types of rear chassis tubes for fuel cell mounting. Package "A" or package "B". Depending on the package you choose we can final install the tubes required before delivery. Both have advantages and disadvantages from cost, to more camping room.

Package A uses an off the shelf 12 gallon aluminum fuel cell mounted at the back and a griffin radiator/ fan kit mounted behind the passenger seat. External fuel pump system.

Package "B" has a custom made 12 gallon aluminum fuel cell mounted low behind the seats with a custom radiator tucked behind it. The fuel pump is in-tank. Please give us a call for more package details about either system.

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • The chassis was designed to use 14" front and 16" rear shocks with short compressed lengths. ORI struts or FOX "2.0" shocks are a good option if using portal axles. These brands have the shortest compressed length. NOTE: If you are using any shock with a taller compressed length than these brands, the upper shock mounts intended locations will not work and heavy chassis modification may or will be needed. If you are using NON portal axles, any shock brand is acceptable.

    • The chassis is designed around the all aluminum Honda 3.5 V6 engine. These engines provide exceptional reliability for a relatively low cost. They can also be built to a naturally aspirated 340hp or turbo to 480hp. They weight under 300 pounds fully dressed! Keep in mind, a 2900lbs buggy with 300hp is faster than a 4500lbs buggy with 450hp. It is also much more predictable and capable in low speed crawling as well as high speed. Other motor combinations will fit, but at this time we do not supply mounts for them. Call for more details.
    • C. The chassis was designed and built around JHF Hummer portals with fabricated ford 9" or fabricated toyota 8" housings. These axles have many, many advantages, but the end choice is yours. Any high pinion drivers side drop dana 60 axle will also work. In the rear any centered or passenger side mounted diff will also work.  The chassis were designed with 5" more up travel than a traditional chassis for the portal axles, so clearance of OEM type differentials is simplified.

We believe that covers most the details about what you will receive with our Wraith II chassis, and why it is one of the best values on the market. We can build you a chassis or full roller.  Its simple, easy to build, easy to maintain, and simple to fix if anything were to ever happen to it. Here are a few more pictures of recreational use.
