May 8th, MetalCloak Ultra4 Norcal Stampede, What a run!

The MMS team set out to make a statement at the Norcal stampede held in Prairie city California. In the weeks prior the team had some major set backs with getting the car ready for the race. The new race engine required fabrication for everything from the new air intake, headers, to exhaust. In the end the motor was not assembled correctly and had to be pulled out at the last minute. The team dropped in a stock 400hp ls1 and went to the races.

When the first day of qualifying was over, MMS made the statement they wanted. Shy on horsepower, Jake Hallenbeck still qualified third fastest. This lined them up for a good race finish.

When race day arrived so did a couple new gremlins. The hood was trying to fly away 3 laps in and caused a unplanned pit stop. This put the team lost multiple spots and were battling to the front again when the tranny temp hit 250. They made the decision to stay off the throttle and ride out the 45 minute main to just finish the race. It worked and in the ends the team finished 8th overall and qualified for the 2014 King Of The Hammers! Congrats Guys!

Nothing was found wrong with the transmission. We beleive the hood being removed changed the air flow in the car and starved the cooler for air. The gremlins just blew by.
